Hair Style of the Day: Twist on Everyday Ponytail- Back to School Hairstyle

Favorite Celebrity Hair!

http://thebeautybunny.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/11/taylor-swift-11119-1.jpg
It just occurred to me that she would look cute in short hair too!

I absolutely LOVE Taylor Swift's hair! Whether it's up, down, or straight, it always looks so amazing!

My favorite hairstyle in the world is the messy updo, but I think it looks the best on her!

I also love her makeup in this picture! It looks really clean and her lip color looks very natural.

Good Hair Day

This was from Monday night, and I didn't really notice at the time, but looking back on the pictures, I had a really good hair day that day!

I know the pictures are really dark, and I'm sorry but my Photoshop isn't working! arghh

Anyway, I think I have finally found my little secret to nice, smooth hair!

1. After showering, put hair in a towel and leave on top of head for 10 minutes.
2. Use Chi Silk Infusion and finger through hair. (don't comb or brush)
3. Part hair and let air- dry.
4. Once completely dry, brush out hair.
5. Loosely French braid hair. This will help condense the hair. Here it's especially important to make sure hair is not the least bit wet, otherwise when you take out your braid you'll have weird waves!
6. Leave hair in braid for 5-10 minutes. Take braid out and comb/brush. And wha-la!
7. (OPTIONAL) Spray hair with shine serum or very light hairspray.

Hair of The Day: Double Side Twists into Twisted Messy Bun

I usually don't shower in the morning, but I did today after I went running ^^. Anyway, I had about 5 minutes to fix my dripping went hair, and this is what I came up with:

Basically, you just twist the sides until the two twists come together and you twist them into one bun. hahahah. You can clip it up or tie with a hair tie. The messier the better! This way, your hair will dry in this form, so you can leave it up like this, or let it down and it will create beachy waves!

I might do a video tutorial on this in the future (=

Revlon Salon Styler 1875 Watt Dryer Model RV408BLU

Okay, I'm a little scared to use this. Why?

I bought this from TJ Maxx a couple days ago because I have never used a hair dryer with a Concentrator Attachment, and apparently you can straighten your hair just by using that when you blow dry. Anyway, I was afraid to open it because it comes in this plastic bag, so if I open it and I end up not liking it, then the store probably won't be very happy about giving me a refund... SO, I decided to search for some reviews on it online to see if it was worth it. The scary thing is that I cannot find any mention of this hair dryer ANYWHERE! I searched on Revlon's website, Google shopping, Google, Makeupalley, Walmart.com, Target.com, etc etc. AND I COULD NOT FIND THIS HAIR DRYER!!

The closest thing I found was this:
http://www.helenoftroyusa.com/products/product_detail.cfm?product=RV408

However, the one I have is blue and it doesn't say Turbo Dryer. grr. On the bottom of the box it even says, "For product information, visit us at www.HelenofTroyUSA.com"

The weird thing is that it was copyrighted in 2009, so it's really new. Why are there no reviews? Perhaps there was something wrong so they discontinued them immediately...
Also, I bought this one for $16.99, but I saw the Turbo black one for as cheap as $12.99 somewhere online. So I guess I will get that one instead.

Cutest wallet! on trip to Loehmann's

I was pleasantly surprised to stumble upon (literally) the cutest wallet ever at Loehmann's yesterday!
Co-Lab by Christopher Kon. Two-Tone Wallet.
  • Faux leather shell with purple nylon lining.
  • Gold-toned hardware.
  • Snapped closure.
  • Three cash pockets with eight credit card slots.
  • Zipped pocket with three compartments.
  • Wallet measures 7.25" wide by 4.5" tall.
I actually hate the picture a lot because it makes the wallet look stiff and weird, but in reality, this is the flimsiest wallet I've ever seen- in a good way. It's not soft, it's just... loose and squishy. This is a checkbook wallet, which I like because it makes my paper money flat and un-wrinkly. If you follow my blog you probably know that I LOVE zippers (and bows and cute/weird prints). I also like that the coin compartment is on the outside of the wallet, so I don't have to unbutton the actual wallet (and take the risk of losing some bills or having people see my library card picture!) to get out some pennies. And the best part about this? It was the LAST one at Loehmann's!! It was hidden under a bunch of Kenneth Cole wallets, AND it had no price tag! After they searched it up in the system for me, I was pleased to hear that it was 60% off (and I have a Loehmann's Gold Membership, so I get an extra 10% off). So, in total I payed around $6.50 for it!

In addition, I bought a Kenneth Cole Reaction Fit N Flare Hobo Bag at Loehmann's.

materials:
  • Nylon and synthetic
  • Logoed lining
measurements:
  • 10" high
  • 14.5" wide
  • 5.5" deep
  • 9.5" shoulder drop
item details:
  • Zipper closure
(details from endless.com)

To be honest, I'm not sure if I like it. I think the part I like most is that it was originally $79 and I bought it for $18. The material is a bit annoying though. It looks shiny and plastic-y, just like a black plastic bag. However, if it were convenient, I wouldn't mind so much. For school use, I wish the opening was bigger so that I can put in books and such more efficiently. I can fit a couple of books and notebooks, but I know that during the course of the school year, random stuff will have to start going into my bag, and then it'll get messy. Plus, I like to keep a light jacket with me, in case I get chills during class. If I put a jacket in this bag, I probably won't have much room for anything else. Furthermore, prefer cross-body bags over shoulder bags because it distributes the weight better, with all those books. However, I would probably carry my heavy books and binders anyway because I don't like having them weigh me down, so carrying some stuff isn't a problem for me.

Let me know what you think of it!

Folica.com Flat Iron/ Blow Dryer Sale!

I recently signed up to receive Folica.com emails about sales, new products, and special offers on everything hair- related. Although I myself am an under-aged, cheap (aka. broke) little girl, and would not even dare think about purchasing any of them (though they are great deals!), I wanted to let everyone else know about this awesome sale!

The best deal here would be:

The NEW Solia and Vera Bradley Blockbuster set for $89.99.

This set features the highly rated Solia 1inch flat iron, trendy genuine Vera Bradely cosmetic case, Sedu Smoothing Heat Protecting Boost, detangling comb, and hair towel.

Let's break it down from the bottom:

THE HAIR TOWEL- worth $5
I know what you're thinking. "Really?! I hair towel? That's almost as bad as those TV commercials that throw in a grill when they're selling a lawn mower." Well let me tell you: it claims to dry hair faster. Enough said. Oh- and it's 100% cotton. Now if that were 100% ORGANIC cotton, I would buy it...

THE DETANGLING COMB-worth $5
From the picture, the comb looks very durable, and can be used as a rat tail comb.

SEDU HEAT PROTECTING SMOOTHING BOOST-worth $12.99+
This will protect your hair from the extreme high temperature of the flat iron AND make your hair smooth AND nourishes your hair like conditioner. That's like a three-in-one deal!

Vera Bradley Cosmetic Case-worth $20+
The "Daisy Daisy" patterned pouch is one of the best designs from Vera Bradley!

SOLIA 1" FLAT IRON-worth $150+
  • 4.5 star rating with over 500 reviews
  • Versatile: This iron will straighten, bend, flip, spiral and curl hair.
  • Ceramic/Tourmaline Ion plates give a shinier, silkier result than regular ceramic flat iron in lesser time.
  • Ceramic/Tourmaline Ion plates emits up to 6 times more negative ion.
  • Variable Temperature Control (140F - 400F):  Works with all hair types
  • Ceramic heater with autosense (TM) technology provides instant even heat.
  • Heating plates wrap around edge for easy finishing touches!
  • Wet to dry: can be used on damp (not soaking wet) or dry hair
  • Contoured easy grip handles.
  • 9ft. professional 360 swivel power cord.
  • Two year limited warranty.
..So if I calculated right, this whole package is worth at least $190, but it's on sale for only $89.99 right now!!

Hot Tools 1" Professional Flat Iron/ Hair Straightener Model 1164 Review

This is really just your standard flat iron. Overall, I rate it a 3.8 out of 5 just because it doesn't have rounded edges; and thus can only straighten hair, as opposed to most flat irons which can curl, wave, and straighten. However, it was extremely cheap at Marshall's and TJ Maxx, (around $20) so I'd say it's worth it for a hair straightener!

FEATURES/ PROS:

  • Slim design with flocked tips. The outside of the plates are covered with a soft, fuzzy thing that I guess is the "flocked tip". It's not as hot as it would be if it were metal, so your fingers don't get burned! :D It's also easier to grip.
  • Small and easy to store
  • Patented Pulse Technology® for Gets Hot... Stays Hot™ performance
    • Temperatures up to 430° F (220° C)
    • Variable heat settings for any hair type, HOWEVER, it doesn't show what the temperature is!
  • Fast heat-up
  • Separate heating system for each heating plate
  • Heavy-duty, long-life heating element
  • 8-ft. heavy-duty, tangle-proof cord
  • On / Off switch with pilot light
  • One-Year Warranty
 CONS:
  •  You can ONLY straighten your hair with this. The edges are not rounded, so you cannot curl or wave your hair.
  • You can change the temperature, but there's no temperature display, so you don't know exactly how hot it is.
